Multi-Threat Security Appliances Built for Large Enterprises

Two new flagship multi-threat security appliances from Fortinet that consolidate best-in-class firewall and intrusion prevention system (IPS) performance with advanced application-based security protection that is purpose-built for large enterprises.

The new FortiGate-3950B appliance delivers up to 120 Gbps of low-latency firewall inspection performance to help secure the most demanding enterprise environments, including high-speed data centers and network perimeters. In addition, the FortiGate- 3951B appliance incorporates internal storage and can scale up to 100 Gbps of firewall performance. Both appliances feature a modular form factor for performance-on-demand and integrate the industry’s broadest array of network and content security services to deliver complete content protection at a granular level.

Fortinet continues to advance the state of security from simple firewall “permit/block” functionality to ultra high-performance threat identification and prevention, with the added benefit of policy enforcement down to the application level. This is made possible through the integration of contentaware security technologies into the firewall to identify threats within trusted communications. In addition to functioning as dedicated enterprise-class firewalls with tightly integrated IPS and complete application control and security, the FortiGate-3950B and FortiGate-3951B can also be deployed to include any combination of IPSec/SSL VPN, antivirus/anti-malware, web filtering, anti-spam, data loss prevention and voice security services, all determined by the customer for maximum deployment flexibility.

Multilevel Classification Software Available on PCs

TVE software by General Dynamics C4 Systems is now available on HP businessclass desktop and notebooks starting with the HP Compaq 8000 Elite business PC for government customers. TVE enables users to simultaneously see and work with information classified at various security levels on a single computer. A “green” technology option, TVE reduces the size, weight and power costs associated with multiple computer systems dedicated to a specific level of security or domain. The HP Compaq 8000 Elite business PC is engineered for business computing environments where stable hardware and software are essential to an organization’s information technology plan.

Solution Enables Multilevel Security Access

Dell has teamed up with Integrity Global Security to combine its core strengths with Integrity Global Security’s separation kernel technology and expertise. This alliance aims to deliver a highly secure, easily manageable and readily supportable solution to customers. The Dell/Integrity Secure Consolidated Client Solution helps simplify complex secure environments by enabling users to access multiple network domains and levels of secure data from a single computing device, while preserving a high level of assurance that the data is securely separated. The solution is composed of Dell OptiPlex systems with Intel vPro technology, the Integrity-178B Separation Kernel, and a suite of services and support offerings. This solution uses the Integrity separation kernel technology to isolate processing domains on a single physical platform. Each domain consists of a virtual machine and a guest OS, such as Microsoft Windows, executing within the virtual machine, and can be set to different security sensitivities. Users can easily toggle between domains with a keystroke. This multiwire solution supports both thick-client processing (full OS on the client) with direct connectivity to the server environment and simultaneous thin-client processing.

Tactical Digital Assistant Offers Secure Communications

The Tactical Digital Assistant (TDA) from Lockheed Martin provides unprecedented situational awareness, command and control, and blue force tracking capabilities to brigade and below forces. TDA allows dismounted soldiers to maintain secure communications and exchange vital position and situational awareness data with mounted forces in an operational environment. Its intuitive user interface supports shared full motion video and sensor command and control. Unlike similar commercial technology, the TDA’s ruggedized design can withstand harsh operational environments. The TDA interfaces with both fielded Army Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2) and emerging Joint Battle Command- Platform systems. An open architecture provides flexibility for future growth, including new applications and increased memory requirements. Lockheed Martin is developing numerous applications for the TDA to support battlefield challenges. The TDA is compatible with current FBCB2 software and provides the flexibility to host the Google Android operating system. ♦
